Robbie Lawler was enjoying a major career renaissance over the last two years, becoming the UFC Welterweight Champion and putting together a string of memorable performances. Split decision wins over then champ Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit and a Fight of the Night barn burner against Rory McDonald that ended in a TKO victory, cemented Lawler's surging popularity among UFC fans. Most, including me, picked Robbie to win against the powerful and ever dangerous Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 but the result just goes to show how speed and precision punching can never be overlooked.
